South America | Peru | Central Peru | Lima – SAE
I volunteered at the South American Explorer’s Club in Lima for some 5 weeks starting on Sept. 1st. I really liked it there.
As I didn’t speak any Spanish upon my arrival it was a great place to start volunteering. And it’s also through the SAE that I found the associations I wanted to volunteer for.
My main contribution was to help update the volunteer database. I visited several non-profit organizations and associations in Lima, collected information by interview and taking pictures. Furthermore I assisted administrative office work such as showing members around the clubhouse, assisting members, selling memberships and maps and updating and researching specific projects.
South American Explorers is a non-profit organization. With clubhouses in Quito, Ecuador, and Lima and Cusco, Peru and U.S. headquarters in Ithaca, New York, the SAE collects and makes available to its members up-to-date, reliable information about Latin America. It’s an organization for those who want to travel, explore, conduct reasearch or volunteer in South America.
