South America | Peru | Central Peru | Lima – London -Madrid-Lima
I arrived in Lima after a total of 20 hours of travelling by bus and plane from deepest darkest Hertfordshire (UK). If anyone is scared of flying I fully recommend a 14 hour flight as the cure, it worked for me! There is only so long you can sit there with nerves. We had stunning views of the Amazon rain forest, although aftre 5 hours it became a bit tiresome looking at trees and rivers. Finally the sight I had most looked forward to, the Andes, as the sun was setting the mountains radiated a redish brown colour more fitting of an alien world. This is a view I will never forget, and as we spiralled into the Garua (a still fog that sits above the city for most of the Winter) It truly did feel like another planet.
After a failed attempt to meet up with other ‘friends from flight IB465’ in Brisas de Titicaca, Will (one such friend) and I were shaken from the experience of Lime?os Taxis and settled for Dos Corona in a trendy bar near our respective hotels in Miraflores. Intersting to see chains on the tables to hook your bags to.
