North America | United States of America (USA) | The Mid-Atlantic states | Delaware – The Journey of a Car
October 25, 2006 We picked up our new car at the factory in Gothenburg Sweden. It had 92 miles on it when we took possession of it, and 94 miles on it when we left the factory grounds.
At 282 miles we crossed the bridge into Denmark.
At 391 miles we were on a ferry and entered Germany.
At 401 miles we filled up the tank for the first time. 57,7 liters at 1,199 euros a liter makes a 68,95 euro tank!
October 28, at 708 miles we crossed again into Denmark.
October 30, at 995 miles we dropped it off at the Volvo dealership in Copenhagen, Denmark. From here the car rode a truck back to Gothenburg, where it boarded a ship named Topeka EA646.
November 18, Topeka left the port of Gothenburg and carried the car to the port of Newark, New Jersey, port 4601.
(You can look up a ship’s schedule on the internet. I found that while on Topeka my car also went to three more countries:
ZEEBRUGGE BELGIUM 20/11/2006
SOUTHAMPTON UNITED KINGDOM 21/11/2006
HALIFAX, NS CANADA 28/11/2006 )
November 30, Topeka arrived in New Jersey.
December 5, our car passed US customs.
December 9, our car arrived by truck at our dealership, Stillman Volvo in West Chester, Pennsylvania with 998 miles on the car.
December 16, 2006. We once again took possession of our new car, this time in America. It had 1003 miles on it at that time, and now our really big souvenir is home with us.
