North America | United States of America (USA) | Pacific North West | Oregon | Portland – slow moving at a leisurely pace
fast-forward three years (yes, truly). i’ve left New York for the west coast and have spent the past year in Portland, Oregon.
During this time, Worldsurface saw fit to reward me for a contest won years ago (i would have preferred the original offering, a trip to Thailand or Venezuela, but, hey… the Universe has its own way).
And, so, instead, Worldsurface sent me a gigantic tshirt and a travel guide of my choice. I could have picked one for somewhere I’d never been, but I picked the one for Mexico and Central America instead.
I thought it might be wise to get an updated travel guide to read on the road (though strangely enough, i can’t bear to read it). It’s been nearly six years since i’ve been to that part of the world. The travel guides living in my storage unit on the opposite side of the country are obsolete regardless of their inaccessibility.
intuition is a lovely thing – I’m off again, to Mexico, again, and I’m headed there in two weeks. The adventure starts out in a car as we head down the west coast from Oregon. First thing south of the border is more spanish lessons…
I have, currently:
no relationship, no job, no home, and very little stuff here in portland to be concerned with – any number of people have offered to put it in their basement until i decide to come get it or pass it along.
what i do have is a pocketful of cash from working construction all summer long. that and a passport and a dream…
