Europe | United Kingdom (UK), Great Britain | Scotland | Outer Hebrides – Day 24 – Oban
After sitting on the ferry for a couple of hours while the engine was repaired I settled down to a long 5 hour ferry ride. After open ocean for a couple of hours we finally passed through the Sound of Mull and in to Oban… I’ve been in a ferry 3 times now on this stretch of water and this is the first time the sun has shone and what a difference it makes! I think I used up half a roll of film… the Isle of Mull and the mainland rising up in blue mountains out of the water… breathtaking!
I plonked myself down at Oban Backpackers until I discovered that it was ‘ladies’ nite at the local pub… heaps of hideous girly drinks for a pound… luckily they also had beer so I didn’t have to suffer through sugary lolly water… spent the evening getting progressively more drunk with Narelle and Matt from Perth (Australia) and Anne-Marie and Steve (are ALL Scottish guys called Steve?!) from Glasgow – hi guys!
