Europe | Spain – Southern Spain
Driving through the white hill towns of southern Spain reminds me of tuscany. The people are simple, friendly, and full of character. At dusk, the men gather together in the cooler hours to chat. Restaurants do not open until after 7 pm unless they cater to tourists. This is the region of green olives, sherry, sangria, iberian ham and seafood. The coffee is strong and full of flavor. The architecture is influenced by the Moorish reign in this region, with white wash buildings and cobble stone streets. There are huge expanses of space and land, the landscape being incredibly dry and arid this time of year. The heat becomes stifling by mid afternoon.
Everything about this place appears to be relaxed and slow…it forces you to linger and enjoy the ride.
