Europe | Spain | Barcelona – Vive Espana
Buenos dias….estoy en barcelona. Estudio espanol en una escuala….ok enough of that. Right now I am in Barcelona, all by my self. At first it was really hard and to be honest it still is, but it is getting better. I have befriended some of the kids in my class as well as may flat mates. I am a little frustrated with my class because I have taken 4 years of spanish before this and yet I am still in the basics class. It´s rather embarassing to admit actually. I guess it´s ok becasue i feel as though they are doing a really thorough job at teaching so hopefully after this, I will have a better foundation for learning in the future. Barcelona is amazing. The archetecture and everything is unreal. It looks like someone on drugs designed so many of the buildings. There is a road in the center called Las Rambas with tourist gallore, but it is soo amusing to walk down becasue there are loads of street performers. When you´re on a tight budget it´s a nice form of entertainment. If you venture down any of the side alleys that run off Las Ramblas you stumble upon really hip shops and the occasional vegan resturant. There are also tons of interesting looking people, really laid back and chill…my kind of people. It is a really cosmopolitan city however, I don´t feel completely out of place with my worn out clothing as I normally do in bigger cities. I think it´s because Barcelona is located on the beach which makes just about any city a bit more relaxed.
I haven´t written in a while… I do apologize. Previous to Barcelona, I was in France where I spent two weeks more of less exploring the city. It´s also pretty cool, however after 2 weeks I had enough and was ready to get out. In Paris Anna and I met up with Jack and Wes and Caitlin, three friends from back home. It was a much needed breath of fresh air and aso nice to see friendly faces. It was weird becasue i remember in Australia thinking that the day would never come when we saw them in Europe and then it came and it was more magnificant than i could have ever imagined…I dont think I have given people that big oof hugs in quite some time. We had an amazing time. We hungout along the river and drank wine and ate bread and cheese and pretended we were French. We listened to drummers play and hungout with the French on a bridge outside the Louvre. We walked the whole city one day, all the way to the Arc de Triomphe…that was a long day. All in all we had an amazing time. We were realy lucky becasue we knew a girl who lived there from California and she was kind enough to give us her apartment for about half the time we were there… It was just a single room but it felt like our home after a while which was really nice and we could look out of the window and see the effiel tower…what a sight..Well i have to go becasue my school is about to close…I will write more, possibly tomorrow as internet is FREE!!! much love peace and pura vida
