Europe | Portugal – Portugal – Sintra and the southern Coast
After spending a few days visiting the sights in Lisbon, we drove up to Sintra and were enchanted by this lovely town nestled in the mountains. We would have preferred to have spent more time in Sintra had we known that southern Portugal was not that interesting. Sintra is the home to several royal castles and palaces that were built by the royalty for their vacations outside of Lisbon. One of the castles had this deep well/cave that had a winding stone staircase all the way to the bottom, it felt like we were taken back in time.
We then drove to southern Portugal and drank port at the south western most tip of Portugal, Sangres. In the 1400´s, this was considered the end of the earth and was the very place where Christopher Columbus sailed from.
A few things to note for those traveling with me, Im pretty easy going as long as I have the following things: morning coffee, food every few hours (Im a snacker), sleep, regular bathroom breaks and shade.
