Europe | France | Paris – France and Sweden
Why does it seem that whenever I am in France they are on strike? This year was no exception. After visiting my family, the Kaminkas, in Labbeville and Paris, I spent several days walking in Paris by myself sipping french coffee and eating pastries. Much to my dismay, I was informed there would be a transportation strike and I would need to leave town or risk missing my business meetings at the end of the week in Stockholm, Sweden. To be safe, I elected to leave Paris a few days early since the purpose of my visit to Europe afterall was business.
Stockholm is a beautiful and pristine city filled with beautiful people. The business meetings were productive and enjoyable and I thoroughly enjoyed strolling through the old town and other areas of the city.
The scandanavian stereotype of a gorgeous, blonde haired, blue eyed race is all but true! Everyone was incredibly friendly and enjoyed speaking with an American. This was quite a surprise having just come from Paris where the locals were even less friendly with Americans than normal. This is due to the current war in Iraq and Rumsfield’s recent comments about the French. Not a great time to be in France for an American.
