Europe | Czech Republic | Prague – Prague in review

So we made it here successfully, even though the alarm didn’t go off and we missed our train… That was my bad, I woke up, saw that we should have been up an hour or two ago, woke Boo up, and then we found the next train that headed this way… It all worked out, plus, I needed the extra sleep:)

So we are in Prague, some place I thought would be interesting to go, and we are here for six days, long enough, I imagine, to see what we want to. We just spent our first full day here, and it is a magical city!

Monday we returned to our hotel, soaking wet, tired, and frozen… I am the idiot who didn’t wear a jacket, I thought it was warm out there. And, of course, not only did it start raining this afternoon, it poured!

This week we visited the Museum of Communism, the Franz Kafka Musem, the Mucha Musem, and the Museum of Socialist Realism… Looking back over the years when I have travelled, I never wanted to go to museums, it seemed like I was always dragged there. Now, especially when I am paying to be here, I want to learn, understand, and see the history and politics of where I am.

It is a very interesting thought, when I think over the history of the Czech Republik… We saw pictures of this one street with tanks going down them, soldiers, students, and chaos in the Museum of Communism. Then a few minutes later walking around we would realize we were on the same street… Since the end of Communism in ’89, it has come a long way. And true, it still has a long way to go, but it is getting there…

Monday we even payed to take a four hour guided tour of Prague, and saw Faust in a black light theater

Wednesday we took a tour out to Kutna Hora, which is about an hour and a half from Prague. It was an old mining town, and it was pretty cool to see. We went to this place that was all decorated in real human bones… It was actually kinda creepy if you ask me, but still cool to see…

Unfortunately, Boo and I both got sick, we both got colds and coughs… So last night we layed around in bed like an old married couple, being sick, watching movies, kinda pathetic, but we had a good time!

Tomorrow we are taking a night train back to Heidelberg, it seems like forever since I have been there… But I look forward to being somewhere where I can speak the language. Whenever I travel I am grateful to return home, where I belong…

It is gonna be sad to say goodbye to Prague, we finally have the city down… And Boo and me are a great travelling team, we are going to have a school to teach travellers, and it is going to be called Hotlzschu… Has a nice ring to it, and maybe, just maybe it will make enough money to fund my travels…
