Europe | Austria | Vienna – Vienna, Austria
‘There are no kangaroos in Austria,’ hehe, gotta love this place! But besides that, there is a lot to see here, almost too much. For some reason I didn’t think that Vienna was as big as it is, there goes my thoughts. But Angie and I survived the journey here successfully, even though Angie does not have her passport. We got in bright and early and Mel, a student from Linfield, who is studying here, met us at the train station. We got ready for the sights, and Mel played a wonderful tour guide. By trip’s end, we had visited the Stephansdom, the Rathaus, the Hundertwasser Haus, the Scholss Schoenbrunn, the Staatsoper, plus so much more. I was proud of us little tourists! We had no shame at all, we even took a picture of a window that had painted in it ‘Merry Christmas from Vienna’… Like I said, no shame!
This weekend I had a chance to see what my semester would have been like had I went with the Linfield semester program instead of doing my own thing and spending a year in Heidelberg. I have often wondered if I would have made choices differently where I would be at and how I would be doing. I got a glimpse of what could have been, and it made me so grateful and happy to have made the choice I did to come here, even when it was a very difficult one. The interaction between the Linfielders is not what I came here for, it is almost unhealthy. Heidelberg gives me the opportunity to really learn and grow, I have to, I don’t have a choice. And hearing them talk about packing up and when they are heading home, makes me even more happy that I am staying the whole year here. Like I said, I am finally adjusted, there is no way I would want to leave now. And I don’t know if I will ever want to, but I know I have to.
Time to go catch up with everything I have been slacking on lately…
