Central America | Guatemala | Central – Last phase of the fast lane
This entry is going to be 100% in retrospect, because our next stop at a compure will be San Pedro where our school is and from there my plan is to get mellow and very introspective. Why these journals may even turn phylisophical-can´t spell it but I can do it!
Wow, it’s December 23rd. Five days ago I was in another world–the world of the traveller– Now we are in San Pedro, Guatemala, we have begun school, and we feel very much at home.
Ken speaking for ken now–
Paradoxically I feel the most at home when I stay at our “quiet” end of the town and the least at home when I am downtown hearing so many “gringo’s” talking english.
Antigua was the most beautiful Ciudad Grande (for me) that we have visited so far. A lot of hustle and bustle, but an air of happiness and acceptance from the locals made it a very pleasant place to be.
Next stop (for less than a day) was Pannachell. Beautifull town but my impression even though it was a limited stay, was that this was “Gringoville”. (Actually I stole that expresson from Leo my teacher who calls Pannachell– Gringoville– and San Pedro (His home town) and San Marcos (a “new age” community a few miles across the lake from here), – “Hippieville”–
I’m going to try to attach two pictures from Antegua and get this off now.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OUR FRIENDS—–DROP US A NOTE AND LET US KNOW ALL IS WELL WITH YOU
Love-Ken and Cindy
