Central America | Belize – Tapirs, and Jaguars, and Tarantulas! Oh My!

Day 6

Hiked in the Cockscomb Basin (Jaguar Reserve). You can’t actually see jags unless you are there at night. We did see a lot of jag and tapir footprints. A lot of birding, and we saw a tarantula eating it’s lunch. Grasshoppers, yummy.

Drove to San Ignacio. Initially, the town did not make much of an impression on me, but by the time we were leaving I liked it a lot. As for our accomodation, eek. Very dark and rumored to be spidery but with cable t.v. – go figure. My travelling companion lives in mortal fear of tarantulas so I would check under the covers, beds, in shoes and the shower looking for them during our stay here. Never did find any.
