Australasia | Australia – The Horses in Melbourne
We woke up this morning and had breakfast on the balcony with our view of the Rock. Then I walked around the resort and took some photographs of the plants. The plants they have here, gum trees and cycads and the like, can survive on a little water, but I am SURE they are helped out by the staff to survive here.
We flew to Melbourne to change plans to go to Adelaide. The Melbourne airport was full of horse items. The Melbourne Cup was on November 1, and they say the race stops the country. Our tour to Cave Hill happened, but our driver and even our Aboriginal tour guide had a favored horse running that day. The whole week is filled with racing. Along with the racing are dressy women and their fancy or just plain weird hats. During our layover at the airport we watched a fashion competition of women at the horse race that day.
Finally we flew on to Adelaide and made it to our hotel after a scenic drive of the city. The hotel comes with a washer and dryer in each room, so we are doing some quick laundry because we are off to Kangaroo Island tomorrow.
