Australasia | Australia | Queensland | South East | Brisbane – Brisbane
After several weeks travelling up the New South Wales coast, we are now in Queensland and staying in Brisbane.
We’ve stayed in a hotel and a couple of hostels so far, and we’re now deciding what to do next. We were planning on looking for jobs here for a few months, but we’re not having much luck on that front at the moment. We seem to be both over- and under-qualified for most things! However, we did do an evening’s work at Queensland Art Gallery handing out drinks to rich, drunk arty types, which was interesting to say the least!
We’re now thinking about going to do a farm-stay on a winery in rural Queensland for a few weeks, where we would work in exchange for bed and board, before heading further up the coast where we might have more luck finding casual work.
On the ‘fun’ side, we’ve been to the Lone Pine Koala sanctuary, where Sam got to have her picture taken cuddling a koala, and we hand fed kangaroos and wallabies.
Brisbane is a nice city, big but on a much more managable scale than Sydney. There’s a very laid back Queenslander attitude too! (It must be the XXXX).
