Australasia | Australia | Queensland | South East | Brisbane – Back in Brisbane
Have had a very busy couple of weeks – I have been working at the Queensland Royal Show (‘The Ekka’) for 12 hours a day so now I am knackered! The show is an agricultural show, with a fairground and lots of other stalls and exhibitions. It’s a big thing in Brisbane and everyone goes each year – they even got an extra public holiday here on Wednesday to go to the Ekka! I was working on a stall selling showbags. There was a whole pavillion for showbags for kids to buy. There are hundreds of different ones containing sweets, toys etc. You can find out all about it on the website at www.ekka.com.au.
Dave was also supposed to work at the show, but only did two days selling mobile phone accessories. Then the dodgy bloke running the stall told him he wasn’t needed anymore because the stall was overstaffed. Luckily he was able to find another job with a market research firm (doing data processing) instead, otherwise he’d have had nothing to do but lie around in the sun while I was working twelve hour days!
Anyway, we’re leaving Brisbane tomorrow to go to Stradbroke Island for a few days. Stradbroke is in the bay down the river from Brisbane, and has some nice beaches so we’ll get a few days rest.
Then on Thursday we’re flying up to Cairns.
