Asia | South East Asia | Thailand | South Thailand | Krabi – Beach, rocks, sea and fire

Friday July 5, Raileh Beach
——————————-
A lovely beach, a sea wild with waves, a strong bu warm seawind, huge impressive limestone cliffs, the sun setting in the clouds… it is nice being near the sea again, especially as there are rocks near as well!
In for 3 weeks of relaxing, rock climbing and diving, both here in Raileh Beach and on Koh Tao.
Booked myself into a 3 day climbing course (hope this will not prove too ambitious for my poor muscles) to learn ropes, abseilen, toprope and lead climbing as well as multipitch clikbing – whatever that may be…
Then will go over to Koh Tao around Tuesday or Wednesday, to do my Rescu Diving course.
Guess it will get quiet for while, there will not be much to tell: beach, rocks, climbing, relaxing a little partying… nothing that would stirr your interest in Thai culture…

Sunday July 21st, Krabi
—————————
The more geographically talented amongst you might already have guessed seen where I’m writing: I never made it to Koh Tao…
Tuesday became Wednesday, because a rest day in the climbing course was called for, then I went climbing with David on Wednesday, which meant another rest day on Thursday, …. I got thoroughly hooked on the climbing and in the end decided to do my Rescue course here, so I could alternate with the climbing…

Timing was not the only thing I didn’t get right in the first bit of this entry: there are things to tell and photos to take. Unfortunately, my camera needed some repairs and stayed in Bangkok – and allthough I never travel without it, I wasn’t too worried… what could I possibly want to put down for eternity on a beach??? Well, the mangrove tree in front of our favorite Gecko bar, that was looming out of the sea in the evening light would have made a wonderful spooky picture… the nightly fireshows would have made another amazing one – after a few nights it gets a bit boring: until you catch the guy that really knows what he’s doing and gives you a show you’ll never forget… and not to forget the limestonecliffs. The formations are so beautiful it’s unreal. I don’t remember who wrote this, but it is right on the spot: if Dali ever would have been commissioned by od to create a piece of the earthe, this is what he would have created….Truly Dalique…
This must truly be one of the most beautiful spots on earth, and on top of that you can climb the rocks! To conquer those cliffs (and yourself at the same time) and be rewarded with the view once you get up there is unbelievable.

The soft evening light bouncing off the cliffs at sunset just makes me want to grab my camera again and again, but no, no luck… I’ll just have to take the picture in my head…
