Asia | South East Asia | Malaysia | South | Pulau Tioman – pulau tioman
arrived in malaysia by bus from singapore, and spent the night in mersing. the following day i caught a fast speedboat ferry to the island of pulau tioman which is a very beautiful place. met up with a swiss guy called Patrik and i have decided to do a PADI open water scuba diver course here which is very cheap at 800 ringet (about 120 pounds) and am delighted at the experience. on the second day i dived for an hour to a depth of 36 feet and was amazed at the fish and coral that i saw. cuttle fish, false stone fish (poisonous) and cleaning shrimp which clamber onto my hand and pick all the debris off with little nips that tickle.
over the next few days i have completed the course (succesfully) and have had many great dives, seeing baraccuda, gruper, sting rays, turtles, feeding the parrot fish with biscuits, and even having a night dive.
tioman is a great place to relax, the people are very friendly, it is very cheap (room for 2 quid a night) and the beach is only 5 seconds from my room. the weather is hot, but it has rained a couple of times which is also great, as i danced on the beach and felt very refreshed.
tomorrow i am off to kuala lumpar and back to a big city.
