Asia | South East Asia | Malaysia – kualur lumpar & kota barhu
i left tioman on the speedboat and arrived in mersing just in time to catch the bus to kualar lumpar. arriving at 5:30 just as the rain started to pour down !, lucky for me there was a packpackers lodge next to the bus station, so i got a room and by the time i sorted my stuff the rain had stopped. as i approched KL the skyline was impressive with the petrona towers & KL tower dominating.
i checked out the central market and chinatown where there was lots of bargains to be had.
the following day i went to see & photograph the petrona towers, though i was too late to get tickets to go up to the viewing bridge. then i went back to the markets to do some shopping, buying a rolex watch for 22 pounds and a pair of oakley sunglasses for 3 pounds (very good quality copies). had a few drinks in the bulls head while watching the FA cup, then an early night ready for more travel the next day. KL is a great city, but if i stay too long i am afraid i will spend too much money.
next day i went to kota barhu, with the intention of catching a boat to the parenthian islands to do some more diving. kota barhu is a small town with some nice handicraft shops and i saw top spinning and the local martial arts performed at the cultural centre. bought a man U shirt for 80 pence!!!! and a couple of paintings. after a couple of days waiting for the ferry (no ferrys today the winds too strong) and being told no ferrys for the next couple of days, i have decided to move on to thailand
