Asia | Nepal | Western Hills | Annapurna Mountain Range – 3200m-Lower Pisang: getting over the 3000m line…

Again a great day, a few steepy bits, but nothing my legs couldn’t handle. Becoming really proud of my legs, they’re doing absolutely fine now 🙂
The scenery was stunning today, snowcapped mountains, black mountains with some snow haphazardly thrown on it, a devastatingly impressive, huge granite cliff (named Paungda Danda) and amongst all this display of wild nature, the strangely icy-blueish/greenish/greyish river throwing it self down the mountains.

After an hour of climbing through the woods, this scenery changed dramatically when we came into the wide and flat Manang Valley, surrounded by huge mountains in the distance.

After arriving in an almost deserted Hotel Utse in Lower Pisang, this scenery changed quickly as well: in no time The Group arrived, as did Francesca and her Israeli lover and the same Italians we saw yesterday in the hotel; the hotel is almost full! It belongs to a friend of Amore, which is only one of the reasons to stay there – another is because the hotel has the name of his son…

In the sun it is quite nice and warm, but without it, things get chilly really quickly. The first signs of the altitude and its cold are kicking in…

Off to Upper Pisang this afternoon at 3300m to get a bit of exercise (as if we needed more of that!), but mainly to allow ourselves to acclimatise to these newly found heights.
We’ll be puffing and panting up the hill, but hey, a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do!
