It’s still all too bizarre to take in. I only got back from my TESOL course in Greece a week ago. The next night I was on the net applying for countless jobs in Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabia. At 7am the following morning the phone rang. It was a guy in Korea offering me a job. Stunned and not a little sleepy I accepted. Four days later I find myself lost in frantic preparations. In only another four days I’ll be off on my way top the Land of the Morning Calm – for a year! All the loose ends of life are having to be tied up – stuff put into storage, friends bid farewell, and impossible decisions made regarding ‘what the hell do I pack?’ All that having been said, I’m REALLY looking forward to it. For years I’ve been trying to find a way of getting out long term and preferably being paid for it. Now it actually seems to have happened. The oddest thing is how bloody easy it was! Surely this is all a bizarre dream from which I’ll wake, tremendously pissed off in a few day’s time?! I think stepping off the plane in Seoul is the only thing that’s gong to make this seem real. For the next few days I’m doing a frantic circuit of freinds and family, all wishing to see me off and make sure I’ve really gone!
I’m well aware that all of that will be of no interest to anyone but myself, so I’ll bid you farewell until Next week, when the misty mountains are rising up around me in the Land of the Morning Calm.
