Asia | India – sunday in calcutta
sunday in calcutta started very mundanley with washing clothes, then i went for a massage on the banks(ghats) of the local river (hooley). this was extremly refreshing and a bargin at 50p (Rps35). i was invited to play cricket over at the maiden (large local park) where i managed to score a 6 off the last ball of the innings to win the game for our side. had a few drinks in the evening with a couple of my new cricket buddys, watching man utd beat liverpool (the day just got better and better). and it now looks very good for getting a ticket for the final of the TVS cricket competition on the 18th, thanks to my new found friends.
i have found that the locals are very friendly & helpful when you get to know them, and are full of useful info to avoid getting ripped off. for anybody coming to calcutta i recomend going to chowingree market (next to the roxy cinema) and finding shop no 22, ask for Gotham who speaks excellent english, and more important, seems to be very honest.
today i have had a relaxing day doing nothing in particular, just watching cricket and watching the world go by.
