Asia | India | Kerala | Kochi (Cochin) – Cochin
Arrived in Cochin after a horrendous bus journey, i got a great seat with plenty of room for me & my bag, but a guy sat next to me with 4 bags which he piled up in front of himself. Every time we went around a corner (and there was lots of corners as we meandered down the mountains) his bags fell onto me. when we stopped for a 10 minute break, it took me 5 mins to get out off my seat !!! All this on a 7 hour journey.
Anyhow, i arrived safely in cochin and found myself a nice room. the following day i went to see the chinese fishing nets, but found the harbour full of rotten fish & rubbish. on the way back while waiting for the ferry i bumped into a scot who was at the new year party, and while chatting michiel & marion my dutch friends got off the boat. we arranged to meet up for a coffee later, and then the welsh clown lindsey and tara turned up. So we celebrated all over again.
Went to Vypeen island to chill on cherai beach the next day with lindsey & tara which was truely beautiful. said farewell today as their visas run out, and hopefully will meet up with tara in nepal in a month or two.
Cochin is on strike today. apparently fuel has gone up in price and 70% of the shops & buissnesses are closed. the city is nice and relaxed and the ferrys are a great way of getting around.
