Asia | India | Karnataka – gokarna & om beach
I had a good journey to gokarna, just made the train in hospet for hubli, then bus to ankola and change for gokarn. I arrived at about 5ish so got a room by the bus station.
The next day i explored the beaches and took a boat to om beach, which has a couple of very basic lodges.i booked into Namaste the next day. It is at the north end and has basic rooms for 100 rupees a night. Its full of western travellers and does great food. The beach has a twin crescent hence its name and is lined with palm trees and mango trees. the water is clear and if it wasen’t for the litter (mainly plastic bottles & bags) it would perfect. The cows have right of way and usually get the shady spots under the trees but a slap on the rump sends them on there way.
this is a great spot for doing nothing but relaxing, and after a few days here i am ready to continue the adventure.
